Greater freedom is possible; it starts with one small choice
About Treatment
Treating OCD requires a collaborative and supportive process tailored to each individual. We will work to treat your symptoms by learning to sit with feelings like fear, anxiety, and panic.
Facing these emotions actually helps them shrink and become less intense over time. By learning to sit with uncomfortable emotions without trying to control them through avoidance or compulsions, acceptance can grow.
Treatment can be a daunting process for many so compassion and flexibility are critical. Each individual always chooses how hard they are willing to push themselves in order to face challenges and create change.
Why Choose WMC?
White Mountain Counseling specializes in clinically rigorous methods, proven to create meaningful change. While WMC’s emphasis is on ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), the gold standard for treatment of OCD and anxiety, we also specialize in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).
Treatment is focused on creating behavioral changes, starting with areas where symptoms have had the most significant, and negative life-impacts. Focusing on one small change at a time can lead to greater freedom from symptoms, and more time spent actively pursuing what is most important in your life.
Kevin Menasco, LICSW
Kevin specializes in the treatment of OCD-spectrum and anxiety related disorders. He has received extensive training in treating OCD and anxiety disorders using evidenced based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Kevin has provided OCD and anxiety specific treatment to both individuals and families in residential, IOP, and outpatient settings for over 6 years.
Much of Kevin’s work with OCD has involved working with individuals that have struggled with making meaningful changes in the past due to the severity of their symptoms, or lack of access to specialized care. He believes clients always have control over how much they choose to challenge their fears by engaging in exposures and learning to be present with uncomfortable experiences. Kevin believes compassion and humor are central to creating an effective relationship that helps lead clients to making meaningful changes over time.
